MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE

T'was the night before Christmas,
Which has so much meaning:
Cooking like crazy
And doing the cleaning

The stockings are washed
Folded up on the chair
In hopes that no one
Will see them left there.

The bedrooms upstairs
Are packed to the borders.
So messy it is,
I should be on "Hoarders."

But what to my wondering
Eyes should appear?
Guests bearing presents;
Guests bearing beer.

I simply don't care
That my house is a mess
Because it's a place full
Of much happiness.

So, I hear all exclaim
As they leave from my door:
"Merry Christmas to all --
Next year we'll eat more!"
